No. 01 · The yard

Nothing leaves until a mason is happy with it.

Reclaimed stone is only as good as the hands that sort it. Ours goes through the same three stages it did when the yard opened.

  1. I

    Lifted

    From mill floors, chapel yards and street schemes, usually ahead of demolition. We note where every load came from.

  2. II

    Dressed

    Edges are pitched square by hand with a pitching tool and boaster. Faces stay as they are; the wear is the point.

  3. III

    Lotted

    Measured, photographed and given a lot number. You can reserve a whole lot, so your terrace comes from one source.
